Evan Wilson

One Album

Evan Wilson loves composing music. Songs. Film scores. Commercial music. Dance pieces. Arrangements. He likes to create both independently and collaboratively. Directors. Museums. Businesses. Choreographers. Corporations. Occupy.
After completing two film scores in less than a year, Evan found time to produce and record The Still Point, a collection of stripped-down, heartfelt songs. The medium is simple: guitar and voice. The music is raw and naked. Direct and affecting. Directors have brought their visions to two of the songs, The Wall and The Dreamer. Tracks from the EP have been featured on Noisevox, Facebook, and websites around the world. Evan loves to play for 1 person or 33 million. His global audience has inspired the creation of many more songs. Another album is soon to come.
Recent films include: La Soga (2009 Toronto International Film Festival), Best Music in a Film Award at the 2010 Oaxaca International Film Festival; Forged (2010 NYILFF and 2010 LALIFF); Salvage, (2006 Sundance Film Festival); and Rise of the Dead, released by Lion’s Gate. Evan’s music has also been featured in museum installations (House & Home, National Building Museum), commercials (Crayola and ParaNorman, by Laika Studios), audio books (Live Oak Media), social movements, and many film shorts.

Lyrics:

We put our names up on the wall In the hopes you'd hear our call And show a picture of it all Of all our faces on the wall. From the side the view is hazy And the other side is crazy But from on top I see it all, All our faces on the wall. Here comes the light, It's shining bright, Yeah it's alright. It cures my fears of losing my mind And when it's time, I'll see you Up on the wall. Now our madness is in stasis And disorder forms the basis. I see traces through it all, Of all our faces on the wall. Help stop the fall. Take a look at the system that you're living in. Step through the wall. Fight your way through the darkness that you're living in. Here comes the light, It's shining bright, Yeah it's alright. It cures my fears of losing my mind And when it's time, I'll see you Up on the wall.

Lyrics:

Well I know that when love is broken Take your heart and you keep it wide open And when time it has finally spoken It's alright, yeah baby its alright. When her face, it is slowly fading And your touch is no longer embracing Just breathe and enjoy the waiting It's alright, yeah baby its alright. You'll find that when the pain is over And the tears and the blame grow softer. Go and smile on the days when you were lovers It's alright, yeah baby its alright.

Lyrics:

I'm a dreamer And that ain't a bad thing. I'm a dreamer I love what life has to bring. I walk up on rainbows And don't let my feet touch the ground. I'm a dreamer And that ain't a bad thing. I'm caught in the crosswinds of life I float up on butterfly wings. I sleep on the cloud banks And laugh as the sky shows me love. As I walk through states unknown Dreams are what bring me home. I'm a dreamer And people say that ain't good. They say it robs you of reality, C'mon man, you should've understood. And so I keep my dreams on an island and away from the beasts And walk through intoxicated states unknown And when the world shows me places made of ashes and bones Dreams are what bring me home. I'm a dreamer And that ain't a bad thing. Suspend me up on outer walls But always outside the frame. And as I fade out the picture Somehow my dreams stay behind. As I walk through states unknown Dreams are what bring me home.

Lyrics:

I'm free, free from your sin My name, it ain't what you're saying. So close the door now and Kill off all the lights in your brain. I'm free, free from your games. Out of range from the heat of your flames. I'm on my way now Through the fire of your blame. How does it feel to be on your own Breaking those ties that bind. Where do you go when you're all alone And walking away from life. So take that gun and do it Or shut the fuck up and move on through it But don't try to stop and ask why Move out the way I want to get by. Don't try to cry to me Cause I'm just trying to figure out this mystery. I spit and curse at you baby Drawing blood with the skin of my teeth. How does it feel to be on your own Breaking those ties that bind. Where do you go when you're all alone And walking away from life. So take that gun and do it Or shut the fuck up and move on through it But don't try to stop and ask why Move out the way I want to get by.

Lyrics:

Sleep is on my mind Dream on the horizon Put away your fears Slow your heart and breathe easy Lay your head in the night Close your eyes, but not too tight Don't look back on your time Put your soft hand into mine Go to sleep in my arms Close your eyes to my songs Fall asleep in my arms Close your eyes and sing along Go to sleep now
