Adventures In The Underground

2 albums

Adventures in the Underground is a new band from LA, made up of collaborators Kevin Hinman and Luke Richmond. They met studying film at Cal State Long Beach, and developed their collaborative relationship during the years they spent working odd jobs in film and TV after graduation. Their musical collaboration has spanned several LA bands, including The Kendricks. After the creative strands of their previous bands frayed in different directions, they decided to form Adventures in the Underground, building the project around the style and collaborative approach they’ve built over time, which pairs Kevin’s musical talents, and influences like Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Cold War Kids, The War on Drugs, with Luke’s addictions to history and literature.

Adventures in the Underground has just released two singles and is currently finishing their debut EP, out later this fall. Produced by Mario Borgatta and Steve Pagano of the band thanks., their music fuses influences from contemporary pop and classic rock, Russian literature and Shakespeare, history, personal experience, and current events.

Their latest single Streetlight has been described as “Indie Rock that packs a punch, with perfectly complimented melodies and vocals that have a unique, special growl.”

Lyrics:

Cool down By the side of the road You got a strawberry cough With a lion in your throat You got to Keep out Of the cuttin’ man’s game While the others they-fall You still stay just the same I love your Sweet smile And the turn of your lip You’re the sweetest little devil With your Lucifer kiss I said I Can’t stop But I’ll throw you a line Just watch out in this crowd You might not catch it time. I said There’s a catch if you want it There’s a catch if you feel on the floor There’s a catch in the gutter You just can’t You can’t catch it no more Take a hand from another Take a lift when you’re riding alone Watch a light when it sputters You take the long way home. Take aim Now your life is alive You got me stuck in a job And I’m taking your lines You tell me Outside Now you old chicken shit Without a foot in the grave You’ll never know how to live This is the Last time There’s no way to align The dreams you got in your head With the vision in mine I missed a Clean shot Now I’m marching alone She’s taking him in her hands I’m missing her in my bones There’s a catch if you want it There’s a catch if you feel on the floor There’s a catch in the gutter You just can’t You can’t catch it no more Take a hand from another Take a lift when you’re riding alone Watch a light when it sputters You take the long way home. This what you wanted? This how you want it baby? You picked the losing side of the winning money This how you need it Why don’t you come and say Why don’t you say you love me where they all can see it There’s a catch if you want it There’s a catch if you feel on the floor There’s a catch in the gutter You just can’t You can’t catch it no more Take a hand from another Take a lift when you’re riding alone Watch a light when it sputters You take the long way home.

Lyrics:

There’s a light in the northwest tower See it burning in the witching hour And you know oh you know yeah you know They’re gonna burn it down Paris wolves in the daylight street Long of fang and their bellies lean Oh you mothers don’t you take your children To the northwest tower But they tell me that they know your name You been hiding in the belfry in shame There’s a hundred on the steps below Saying demons hide within the winter snow Hiding down below Yeah I know In the winter snow Spot of blood in the midnight dream She earned her baby in a limousine In the lamplight of a city getting down With a higher power All this gathers in the starless night Tracing veins, hold ‘em pale and tight Did you learn your lesson in the shadow of a burning tower? No But I tell you that I know his name I been hiding in the churchyard in shame I been speaking to the dead below I been hearing things the living never know And I see it clear There’s something in the air Some blood I can see it They can smell it Yeah they smell this fear Let it go It’s what I know I can’t disclose But here’s a little show Now don’t tell me you don’t know my name I been hiding in the shelter of fame I see millions on the steps below Begging demons out to show us where to go And this cauldron of a million lives White hot tower with a burning fire I can feel the wind, I feel it blow Jacob here’s your chain Though you wear it you won’t know No, no, no, no Though you wear it Jacob, oh you won’t know No, no, no, no Let it go
